दन्धञ्हि करोतो पुञ्ञं, पापस्मिं रमती मनो॥
कल्याण करने में शीघ्रता करनी चाहिए, चित्त को पाप से बचाना चाहिए। यदि पुण्य करने में अन्तर्द्वन्द्व हो तो पाप में मन रमने लगता है।
Be quick in doing what's admirable. Restrain your mind from what's evil. When you're slow in making merit, evil delights the mind.

वाणिजोव भयं मग्गं, अप्पसत्थो महद्धनो।
विसं जीवितुकामोव, पापानि परिवज्जये॥
जैसे कोई व्यापारी, जिसके सहयात्री कम हैं लेकिन जिसके पास धन अधिक है, किसी भयावह मार्ग से जाने से डरता है अथवा जैसे जीवन की कामना रखने वाला जहर से डरता है , वेसे ही पाप से बचना चाहिए।
Like a merchant with a small but well-laden caravan — a dangerous road, like a person who loves life — a poison, one should avoid — evil deeds.
जैसे कोई व्यापारी, जिसके सहयात्री कम हैं लेकिन जिसके पास धन अधिक है, किसी भयावह मार्ग से जाने से डरता है अथवा जैसे जीवन की कामना रखने वाला जहर से डरता है , वेसे ही पाप से बचना चाहिए।

If there's no wound on the hand, that hand can hold poison. Poison won't penetrate where there's no wound. There's no evil for those who don't do it.
यदि हथेली में जख्म न हो तो हम उस पर जहर भी रख सकते हैं। जख्म न हो तो जहर प्रवेश नहीं करता। जो पाप नहीं करते उनके लिए अशुभ नहीं है।
